Deep in the heart of North Wales, in the foothills of the Snowdonia National Park lies one of the Countries best kept secrets. Fifteen hundred years ago Gwytherin was a major destination for early Christian Pilgrims, today it is a tiny hamlet of 28 homes surrounding the former Village Church and The Lion Inn.

Originally a row of small cottages dating back to the 17th Century, this cosy village Country Inn is one of the oldest in North Wales, nestling opposite the Church in the beautiful and tranquil village of Gwytherin (home of St Winifred and the 1st Cadfael novel), now completely refurbished to provide 6 Bedrooms (all en-suite) of the highest quality, featuring hand made furniture, traditional Welsh wollen throws & sumptuous "pocket sprung" beds. FreeSat flat screen TV, DVD player & free WiFi are on hand if you have time after enjoying the wonderful scenery and natural attractions this part of the world has to offer. All the bedrooms have countryside views & a full Welsh breakfast will set you up for the day. In the evening or after your meal you can relax & unwind in our bar with its huge open fireplace, low beams and comfy seating.

Many guests stay at the Lion primarily to enjoy Fionas' cooking, an imaginative, changing evening meal Menu that brings out the very best from the wonderful, locally reared and grown, produce. On many occasions, Guests have chatted in the Bar to the farmer from whose farm their rack of lamb had come from!

On the edge of Snowdonia, the Inn is a 30-minute drive from Mount Snowdon itself and the same time will take you to the coastal resort of LLandudno. You could say we are in the middle of “nowhere” but not far from “anywhere”!
