A sound night's sleep at the Lion Inn
The Lion has 6 en-suite Bedrooms, all of our rooms have undergone a complete refurbishment, in each we have attempted to blend the natural charms of a 400 year old building with the very latest in style, comfort and convenience. Each room has been decorated individually; the Farrow & Ball colours of the walls harmonising with the handmade furniture and colourful, hand-woven, traditional Welsh throws. You will find the very best sumptuous "pocket sprung" Beds, luxurious bed linen and towels, together with feather and down quilts (let us know if you are allergic to feathers!). All rooms have Tea & Coffee making facilities, Flat screen TV's with FreeSat & a DVD Player (we have a huge library of DVD's). You will also find Bath Robes, a hairdrier and an Alarm with a "Dock and Charger" for your Iphone/Ipod or MP3 Player. North Wales has very patchy mobile phone reception and our Village has no reception on all networks, for a mile or more in every direction. However we have an EE repeater within the Inn, which will also provide a signal for all non-UK mobile providers..
Five rooms are in the main building, whilst the "Bothy" is in a separate converted barn, that has a mezine bedroom (restricted headroom!). Our normal booking in times are between 4 & 6 pm, if this is not convenient, no problem, but you will need to let us know. Once you have booked in you are welcome to a front door key, allowing you to come and go as you please.
All our rooms (apart from the "Bothy") are situated on the 1st floor and have a separate access, the building complies to all safety standards, with Fire Alarm, Emergency Lighting and Fire Escape. 400 years ago people were much shorter! some places have restricted headroom, so "mind your head" is the order of the day!.
Eating at The Lion Inn
More often than not the simple objectives are the most difficult to achieve. Our aim is to provide you with food that stands comparison with the very best you can find anywhere, regardless of cost. We are helped by being able to use superb local produce; all our meat is from local farms, our fish is fresh from the Fishing boats off Conwy and Anglesey, our fruit and veg comes from the local Market, our Cheese is Welsh. All these ingredients are used by Fiona in providing each Guest’s lovingly prepared meal.
Breakfast is prepared in the same way, thick cut Bacon, Sausages and Black Pudding, made and supplied by our local family Butcher, Metcalf’s of Llanrwst.
We are unashamedly proud and passionate about the fantastic produce that Wales offers. Don't just take our word for it, check out our reviews.
We have a changing evening meal menu that reflects the seasons and we more than happy to cater for any dietary requirements. BUT, as we only "cook if you book", it is ESSENTIAL that you make a reservation. We are happy to send you an example menu, just ask.
Having a Party?

About our traditional Inn
Originally a row of small cottages dating back to the 17th Century, this cosy village Country Inn is one of the oldest in North Wales.
The completely refurbished interior is tastefully and stylishly decorated and furnished in neutral colours, which show off many of the buildings original features, with Farrow and Ball colours blending harmoniously with ancient Oak beams; the perfect place to unwind, perhaps browsing through our selection of magazines or books, or, in the colder weather gently drowsing in front of the crackling log fire that fills the massive central doublesided fireplace.
The major part of the Lion is 400 years old with the whole building being subject to a recent total refurbishment and whilst all the current safety and convenience features have been Incorporated the immense character of the building, with its original fireplaces, low beams, exposed stone walls and sloping ceilings, has been carefully retained.
The Lion has a small, intimate, well stocked Bar, where “Pub” prices are the order of the day.
The Lion Inn is just the place to enjoy old fashioned hospitality where all the family are welcome.
